What is a pole sleeve and how to choose your sleeve colour?
The pole sleeve is the material the holds the pole inside your flag. It’s located on the outside curved edge of the teardrop banners. Black pole sleeves are most common, but white pole sleeves are more suitable when your teardrop banner background is white.
How long does the printing on the flags last?
If your teardrop banner will be situated outdoors, printing lasts between six to twelve months, depending on the degree of sun exposure. Flags used solely indoors can last almost indefinitely.
What type of material is used to supply the Teardrop Banners?
Our Teardrop Banners are printed on super durable 130gsm polyester fabric.
Can I get my banner with double-sided printing?
Absolutely! You have the option to choose single or double sided printing for your teardrop banners. Single-sided banners are thinner and translucent, with the design visible from the opposite side.
Double-sided banners feature block-out material in the middle, so the artwork will be clear and legible from both sides without overlap.
If you plan to place your teardrop banner outdoors, we recommend getting double-sided printing so passing pedestrians and cars can see the artwork on both sides. In contrast, a single-sided banner might function best in an indoor setting.
However, double-sided printing is fantastic for indoor placements as well, and we’re happy to print your banners however you see fit.
Can I use my existing hardware?
If compatible then yes, you can. Note that we only guarantee a good fit when you use the hardware that we provide.
Which type of base do I need?
To choose a suitable base for your advertising banner, you need to consider where it will be used and on what surface. First of all, if you intend to use your teardrop banners in a grassy area for garden bed, then the ground spike is most suitable. Most importantly, is whether you will be setting up and taking down the banner each day, therefore the ground spike may not be the best option.
The second most popular base type is the cross base stand, because it’s perfect for hard flat surfaces, both indoors and outdoors. For windy days we also offer water bag weighs to hold the banner in place. For permanent fixtures we offer 0 degree and 30 degree wall brackets. These are permanently attached to walls or fences and the banner can be attached or detached. All of the teardrop banner bases are interchangeable so you can purchase more than one base for your banner display.
Where should I place my teardrop banner?
If you plan to use your teardrop banner indoors, placement depends entirely on where most customers will see it. An indoor banner serves less as an attention-grabber and more as an advertisement for your business and brand.
Choose a location that’s easily visible to customers. Consider which areas of your space get the most foot traffic. Then choose a spot that’s visible from all angles of the room and accessible to you in the event you decide to move it.
For outdoor placements, choose a location that’s clear of any fences, buildings, or other hazards that could damage the fabric. Our banners are incredibly durable and designed to withstand weathering, but it’s best to keep the flag away from sharp objects to avoid excessive wear and tear.
Can I wash my teardrop banner?
Yes, you can put your teardrop banners or feather flags into the washing machine. We recommend washing your banners with cold water and allowing them to air dry when the wash cycle is complete.
How durable are Promocolour banners?
At Promocolour, we use the highest-quality materials and inks to ensure a long lifespan for our teardrop banners. We design our banners to endure the full range of Australian weather.
Of course, if used outdoors, the printing will not be impervious to damage in extreme conditions and extended exposure can cause the print to fade. However, even outdoors in the harshest elements, Promocolour banners will last and maintain excellent condition for up to a year.

How to Set Up Your Promotional Teardrop Banner Flag
Setting up your promotional teardrop banner flag is quick and easy. Follow these simple steps to have your banner ready for display in no time!
Step 1: Unpack and Assemble the Flagpole
- Start by unpacking the black carry bag.
- Assemble the flagpole by joining the individual pieces together. To do this, simply insert each pole section into the next, pushing them securely until they’re fully connected.
Step 2: Attach the Teardrop Banner
- Take the top of the pole (it has a rubber topper) and insert it into the pole sleeve at the top of your teardrop banner.
- Push the pole all the way to the end of the sleeve to ensure it’s securely attached. Important: Make sure the pole is fully pushed into the reinforced area of the sleeve. If not, the banner may become damaged.
Step 3: Position the Banner
- Pull the banner down over the flagpole. As you pull, the banner will naturally start to bend, and the distinctive teardrop shape will form.
- Ensure the banner is fully stretched down the pole for a smooth, taut finish.
Step 4: Secure the Banner to the Flagpole
- Use the tie sockets and tensioning string to fasten the banner to the flagpole. This will ensure that your flag remains secure and doesn’t flap in the wind.
Step 5: Attach the Bottom of the Pole
- Once the banner is secured to the flagpole, insert the bottom of the pole into the base of the flag.
- Your teardrop banner is now fully set up and ready for use!

How to Care for Your Custom Teardrop Banner Flag
Your Teardrop Banner Flag is built to be durable, but taking proper care of it will ensure it stays looking sharp for years to come. Here’s everything you need to know about maintaining your flag.
1. Removing Creases
When your banner arrives, it will be folded in a sealed bag, which may cause some temporary creases. Don’t worry—these creases will naturally smooth out as you use your banner.
To speed up the process:
- Use a warm iron with an ironing cloth between the banner and the iron.
- Important: Never use a hot iron directly on the fabric, as this could damage the material.
2. Cleaning Your Banner
If your banner gets dirty, here’s how to clean it:
- Hand wash: Use cold water and a damp cloth to gently clean the surface.
- Machine wash: If you prefer machine washing, do so on a gentle cycle with cold water. Avoid using any detergents or bleach, as these can weaken the fabric.
3. Avoiding Harsh Weather
While your banner is durable, it’s best to avoid exposing it to extreme weather conditions like heavy rain or strong winds. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can cause wear and tear over time.
4. Protect from Sun Exposure
Over time, sunlight will cause the colors of your banner to gradually fade. This is natural, but if the banner is displayed outside frequently, expect some fading after about one year of use.
Single vs Double-Sided Teardrop Banner Flags
When choosing between a single-sided or double-sided teardrop banner, it’s important to understand the key differences:
Single-Sided Banner Printing
- Ink is printed on one side of the fabric and bleeds through to the reverse side, creating a mirrored image.
- This method causes text or graphics on the back of the banner to be difficult to read from behind.
Double-Sided Banner Printing
- For double-sided banners, we use blockout material between two layers of fabric. This allows the same image to be visible from both sides without any mirroring or distortion.
Double-Sided Banner Printing – Superior Quality and Visibility
When it comes to double-sided teardrop banners, we take extra steps to ensure your graphics look professional from every angle. We print on two layers of fabric, using a blockout material in between. This prevents the artwork from becoming mirrored on the reverse side, ensuring that your design is clearly visible and easy to read from both directions.
Why Choose Double-Sided Printing?
- Clear, readable graphics on both sides without distortion or mirroring.
- Ideal for locations where your banner will be seen from multiple directions.
- Maximum exposure for your message, whether indoors or outdoors.
Why Strong Pole Sleeves Matter for Teardrop Banner Flags
The pole sleeve is one of the most critical components of your teardrop banner. It bears the brunt of wind pressure, especially in strong weather conditions, and poor-quality sleeves are often the first part to fail. At Promocolour, we use reinforced, super-strong pole sleeves that provide exceptional durability.
Key Features of Our Pole Sleeves:
- Elastic material: Ensures a snug fit on the flagpole, reducing wear and tear.
- Durability: Built to withstand harsh weather conditions, extending the lifespan of your banner.
- Customizable: Choose between black or white pole sleeves to match your banner style.
Our reinforced pole sleeves offer maximum strength and longevity, so you can rely on your teardrop banner to stay secure and look great, even in high winds.
How to choose the right teardrop flag banner base
Teardrop banners use a different base depending on where you want the banner to be. All teardrop banner bases are interchangeable, so you can use multiple bases for the same banner if you need a different setup at another location. Here’s the 4 main types of bases:
Ground Spike
- Ground spikes are the most popular base.
- Allows you to set up the teardrop banner on soft ground surfaces like grass, dirt, garden beds, or at the beach.
Cross Base
- Also very popular is the Cross Base stand.
- This allows the stand to be set up on hard surfaces such as indoors or outdoors on concrete.
- Made of very strong cast iron, this base weighs 3.8kg and will remain standing in strong winds.
- This base is much stronger than the folding base on the market.
- Easy to set up and pack away for transportation.
- If you think your location will have strong winds, for additional support you can order a donut-shaped sandbag weight. This sits over the base and holds the base down.
Wall Brackets
- Wall Brackets are great for teardrop banners that will be a permanent fixture.
- These can be bolted onto a wall or fence and come with two different angles.
- The zero-degree wall bracket holds the teardrop banner straight.
- The 30-degree wall bracket allows the banner to tilt out at an angle.
- All wall brackets have the same plate, which is 100mm x 100mm.
- All the holes for the bolts are 70mm apart.
Car Base
- This option holds the teardrop banner in place using a car wheel as the support.
- Simply park your front or back wheel over the stand to hold it in place.
